National Fitness Day

National Fitness Day is an annual celebration of physical activity that aims to get the nation moving more.
Many of us find it difficult to fit regular exercise into our busy lives and National Fitness Day is a chance to rethink our routines and take simple steps to a more active, healthier lifestyle.
In order to celebrate and inspire people, we invited Omi UK along to provide us with a demonstration of their magic table, which is an interactive projector which displays images on a table, enabling residents to take part in interactive games as the projector tracks movement.
The table isn’t just all about having fun – residents are given the opportunity to stretch, compete, think and be challenged. Music was played throughout the day and light movement exercises were introduced, but not forgetting those healthy snacks and fruit platters.
Relative Morag Chambers said “I was very impressed with the magic table; most residents were able to get involved and have some fun.”
Marie Galligan, Practice Development Co-ordinator, reinforced the importance of physical activity in daily living – “we aim to encourage and support our residents to remain as independent as possible.”
