Connected Mobile Health Unit Trial

The rapid onslaught of Covid-19 has meant that we have all had to quickly adapt to our new reality, and nowhere more so than the Care Sector. In an effort to provide the NHS, the Scottish Government and Public Health with current, real-time data on test and tracking of care home residents and workers in Glasgow, O2 have partnered with the NHS to create a mobile 5G powered COVID-19 testing unit for Scottish care homes.
The Connected Mobile Health Clinic, developed in conjunction with Glasgow University, is part of a 3-month trial to inform a wider roll out across Scotland for remote diagnostics, health management and tele-consultations through the NHS. The testing unit will provide real time epidemiological analysis and is designed to minimise exposure of care home residents and staff to CoVID-19, ensuring greater efficiency for healthcare workers whilst enhancing testing capabilities of the NHS.
Our Clinical Director, Janice Allan said, “We are currently carrying out staff tests weekly and the process can be arduous, since we are dependent on scheduling of deliveries and collections, packaging and labelling – this is all valuable time away from resident care. For Pacific Care a mobile testing centre could streamline this process, and when antibody screening is available it will be a helpful diagnostic tool to enable us to test our staff and prepare in case there is a second wave in the winter.”
