Excellent Care, Every Time: Pacific Care's Focus on Quality Improvement and Development

Pacific Care is excited to announce the next step of the 2024/2025 Quality Improvement and Development Plans (QIDPs) for each of our care homes, aimed at further enhancing the standards of care across all locations and improving how we engage with the stakeholders. With over 25 years of experience in providing exceptional care, Pacific Care supports residents in Paisley and Kirkintilloch, with each home dedicated to delivering the highest quality care through its own tailored improvement plan.

Each of our care homes, Mosswood, Birdston, Stanely Park, and Lillyburn and Kintyre, annually implement its own Quality Improvement and Development Plan (QIPD). It includes an outline of a comprehensive roadmap to ensure that Excellent Care, Every Time remains the core of our mission. Supported by a dedicated team of staff across all our care homes, our ambition is clear: to continue setting benchmarks for quality in the care sector, with a focus on resident well-being, safety, and an exceptional care environment.

    Why do we do this?

The Care Inspectorate (CI) conduct inspections as part of their regulatory process,  across our homes. The most recent inspections  highlighted the excellent care provided by our staff and management. While the CI report praised our services, we continually strive to improve. The QIDPs reflect this ongoing commitment to build on our successes and create a culture of continuous improvement.

Our vision is that every resident across all Pacific Care homes will benefit from the Excellent Care, Every Time ethos. This means prioritising safe, compassionate, and meaningful care, empowering staff to grow and contribute to this mission, and engaging with residents and their families to deliver a truly person-centred approach.

    What Do the Plans Cover?

The QIDPs include several key areas of focus to improve care outcomes and enhance the experience for residents, families, and staff. These areas include:

    - Dementia care and end-of-life care

    - Enhanced resident experiences through more meaningful activities and connections

    - Continuous staff development to equip our teams with the skills and confidence to deliver the best care

    - Strengthening infection prevention and control measures

    - A more responsive approach to feedback from residents, families, healthcare professionals, and staff

Where Can You Find This Information?

To ensure transparency and to keep all stakeholders informed, the Quality Improvement and Development Plans will be available in several formats. It will be shared through:

    • Our monthly newsletters delivered to residents and their families
    • Printed copies displayed our respective care homes for easy access by staff, residents, and visitors
    • Regular updates on the Pacific Care website, ensuring that our commitment to progress is visible to all

We believe that by making these plans widely available, we can inspire confidence in our approach to quality improvement while encouraging feedback.

    Continuous Improvement and Collaboration

At Pacific Care, we recognise that quality improvement is an ongoing journey. Collaboration with residents, families, and external healthcare partners is central to our approach. Throughout the year, we will gather feedback through surveys and meetings, ensuring that the voices of our community are heard and valued.

The QIDPs will also be regularly reviewed and updated, with progress tracked through key performance metrics. This dynamic and responsive process will allow us to adjust and evolve our strategies as we continue to grow and meet the changing needs of our residents.

    Leadership and Accountability

The responsibility for delivering on our QIDPs lies with the Pacific Care leadership team, led by our Home Managers, supported by  their Clinical Director, Quality Improvement Manager, and other key staff members. This collaborative effort will ensure that every home in the Pacific Care group upholds the highest standards, building on the strengths identified in the CI inspections and continuing to drive improvement in all areas.

We remain committed to working with external partners, including the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Care Home Collaborative Improvement team, and our local HSCP partners, to support our quality improvement journeys and deliver measurable, positive outcomes for our residents.

Ian Marshall, our Clinical Director, said: “At Pacific Care, our commitment to excellence drives everything we do. Following the launch of our 2024/2025 Quality Improvement and Development Plans, each of our care homes was poised to elevate the quality of care we provide. By focusing on tailored improvements and listening to the needs of our residents, we aim to continue setting the standard for compassionate, person-centred, and high-quality care across all our homes. We are proud of our dedicated team and the meaningful impact these plans will have on our residents’ lives.”

    Looking Forward

Pacific Care is dedicated to being a leader in the care home sector. Through our Quality Improvement and Development Plans, we will continue to innovate and improve, always with the goal of ensuring that our residents receive Excellent Care, Every Time.
