    2024: Pacific Care’s Digital Transformation

In 2024, the care home industry across Scotland continued to evolve, presenting opportunities for innovation and growth. At Pacific Care, we are proud to reflect on a year filled with progress as we continued to provide exceptional environments for our residents, service users, and dedicated staff.

Amidst a changing and challenging landscape, we embraced opportunities to adapt and grow. By adopting innovative technologies and refining our processes, we have enhanced care delivery, streamlined workflows, and empowered our teams to meet the future with confidence and optimism.

Leading the Way with Digital Care Solutions

The care sector has often been seen as slow to adapt to the rapid pace of digital transformation. At Pacific Care, however, we are determined to lead the charge in adopting innovative solutions that enhance the care we provide.

In 2024, we partnered with Person Centred Software (PCS) to digitise our care planning systems, achieving a fully digital solution across all our care home facilities. This transformation has already proven invaluable, enabling us to  release time to care, maintain clear and accurate records, and improve our management of medication processes. .

Through PCS, we also integrated the Oomph Wellness platform into our operations. This tool supports our activity planning by connecting seamlessly with individual care plans, offering a holistic view of each resident’s needs and preferences, and therefore enabling improved person centred support.

    Innovations in Pain Management

One of the most exciting advancements this year was the implementation of PainChek, an AI-based pain assessment tool. PainChek allows us to better identify and manage pain for residents who may struggle to express their discomfort verbally. By leveraging this cutting-edge technology, we are delivering even more personalised and compassionate care whilst aiming to reduce polypharmacy and improve prescribing practice

    Enhancing Visitor and Resident Experiences

Our move to digital reception systems has been another game-changer. Visitors now enjoy a seamless check-in and check-out process via tablets at each facility, while our managers benefit from an up-to-date digital overview of all visitors. This system also helps integrate visitor information into care planning.

Our upcoming pilot of ResHub, a resident experience tool, is set to launch in early 2025, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. ResHub will connect residents, families, and staff in an intuitive, fully integrated hub designed to enhance daily experiences. With its rollout planned for later in 2025, ResHub is poised to enrich life in our homes even further.

    Looking Ahead

In line with our PCS partnership, we are preparing to implement Nursecall Messaging Service (NMS) across our homes. This smart system will streamline staff communications by consolidating alerts, messages, and notifications onto a single device, therefore enhancing response times.

As we continue piloting ResHub and move closer to deploying NMS, our commitment to using technology to benefit our residents, families, and staff remains unwavering.

    A Vision for the Future

Despite the hurdles faced by the care sector, Pacific Care is determined to stay ahead of the curve. By embracing digital solutions and prioritising the needs of those we care for, we are building a resilient and future-ready organisation.

We are incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made in 2024 and look forward to expanding these innovations in the years to come. At Pacific Care, the future is bright—and digital.
