As an older person, it can often be hard to fill each day with stimulating activities and companionship, which can put a burden on family and caregivers. Birdston Day Care in Kirkintilloch provides a friendly and homely environment where stimulating company and day outings are part of everyday life. Birdston Day Care was created with the frail, elderly person in mind, and it provides the highest standards of care by trained staff who genuinely care about the elderly.
Accommodating up to 40 service users six days a week, throughout the year, Birdston Day Care provides a range of care needs for the frail, those with dementia or restricted mobility, and those just looking for some purpose to their day. The centre offers carers and families some well-earned respite in East Dunbartonshire. Escorted transport is provided to and from the centre on a fleet of minibuses.
Birdston Day Care is one of the few centres that is registered with the Care Inspectorate, and we operate in partnership with the local Social Work Department in East Dunbartonshire. The Centre is also an approved service provider for North Lanarkshire and Glasgow City Councils. To arrange a visit, please call 0141-776-6595.
Birdston Day Care Centre has a number of different areas where clients can spend their day including being pampered at the hair salon, playing pool, relaxing in the Snoezelen Therapy room, doing research in the computer room, or getting crafty in the conservatory area.
We have a welcoming reception, main function room, and a games room where clients can spend time enjoying the company of others. In addition, there are a number of adapted toilets and shower facilities.
We have a structured programme of activities and entertainment covering a wide range of activities to suit all tastes, many of which are run simultaneously at different places in the centre and everyone is welcome to participate. In addition, we have a wide selection of arts and crafts including painting, crochet, knitting and gardening. Time at home can often be lonely, so we find our clients enjoy taking part in some of our group activities including reminiscence, Tai Chi, book groups, current affairs, quizzes, card games, indoor bowls and bingo at the end of the day.
Our client's carers play a very important role in their lives, often dealing with the realities of day-to-day care of the frail, elderly person.
We believe there should be some fun involved too, so we welcome carers to our annual Summer Fete, Christmas Fayre and Carer's Lunch where they can take a break, have some fun, and meet fellow carers as well as the friends of their relative or loved one.
Birdston Day Care has a number of close links to the local community, and we often organise visits to and from the Centre. We also have a selection of entertainers who come on a regular basis, including singers, pianists, dancers, old-time music hall groups, and the local school choir and band. As you can see from the gallery, our clients love to dance!
The team at Birdston Day Care wishes to make our service users' days as fulfilled as possible, so our staff go out of their way to provide additional services to achieve this.
There's typically no request they can't meet. We do our upmost to ensure our service users enjoy their day at the centre.
