Birdston Care Home is located in Kirkintilloch, only a 15-minute journey from Glasgow City Centre. The 60-bed care home has recently undergone a complete interior refit, including newly refurbished bedrooms, dining rooms, communal areas and gardens.
Birdston Care Home is a residential and nursing home in East Dunbartonshire and has been established for more than 20 years. We provide the highest standard of 24-hour person-centred care for frail-elderly people, respecting individual choices, privacy and dignity. We also offer nursing, dementia and respite care. Our staff have a positive, forward-thinking work ethic, which cascades throughout all departments, resulting in the delivery of skilled, relevant care. This ethos enables our residents to lead a happy, fulfilled and diverse life.
As a purpose-built care home built on one level, there are many personal and communal spaces available, in addition to a variety of safe and secure landscaped gardens affording beautiful views of the Campsie Fells.
Birdston is a bespoke nursing home that caters for and takes into account the specialist needs of our residents. The nursing home is well maintained with personalised bedrooms to create a sense of belonging and familiarity.
Our dedicated communal areas include large and small lounges, dining areas, reminiscence rooms, quiet lounges, which can be used for activities and visitors, in addition to enclosed gardens and courtyard areas.
A variety of activities are provided for both therapeutic and fun purposes. Assessments are carried out to establish what is suitable for each individual, taking preferences and capabilities into account. Both one-to-one and group activities take place.
Daily stimulation is paramount to our resident's well-being for pleasure, fun and their independance, helping them achieve their maximum potential.
As a large and spacious home, Birdston Nursing Home provides plenty of personal and communal spaces. Residents rooms are personalised to create a sense of belonging and to assist with familiarity for those with dementia. Every residents likes and dislikes are noted and implemented by the staff and documented in their personal care plans.
At Birdston, we strive to provide a safe, welcoming, happy environment where everyone feels included with activities regularly held in our various lounges, reminiscence room and dining areas, (many with access to outdoor areas). All bedrooms are en-suite with a choice of bath or shower. Some bedrooms have patio doors to the internal garden areas.
It is paramount that as much normality, diversity and interaction with the outside world is maintained for our residents to feel they are still important and have a place in society.
Relatives are encouraged to participate as much as they can with their loved one and all that goes on in the home, whether it be attending our regular fun events or update meetings with the staff.
